Choosing Treatments Wisely
Dear Colleague,
On behalf of the International Scientific Committee and the local organising committee, we would like to invite you to participate in this superb summit designed to support continued medical education. The event is being held at the Tata Medical Center on the 19th-20th October 2019.
The meeting has been organised by the Tata Medical Center and ecancer, a UK charity providing free/low cost education to the oncology community, to support better outcomes for cancer patients.
King’s College, London, the National Cancer Grid and the Tata Trusts as well as regional oncology societies are providing academic support.
The meeting will be attended by around 150 medical professionals from across India involved in the first line treatment of cancer.
Programme and meeting objectives
Our goal is to extend the knowledge of prevention, screening, diagnostics, palliation and therapeutics topics in the five most commonly diagnosed malignancies (breast, gynaecological, lung, head and neck and gastric cancer).
These topics will be approached from the perspective of 'choosing wisely', an initiative launched in over twenty countries and which has recently been championed in India by the National Cancer Grid. The programme will be delivered by regional and international experts.
Our objective is to help support capacity building in the Indian healthcare system, promote best practice and ultimately deliver better outcomes for cancer patients.
Find out more about the meeting from Professor Richard Sullivan, Chair of the ecancer Foundation and Head of the Institute of Cancer Policy, King's College, London.
Tumour boards
In parallel with the meeting will be five disease specific tumour boards lead by the specialist teams at Tata Medical Center.
