Dilip Mahalanabis Poster Award 2024 (Poster Presentation)


Dilip Mahalanabis was an Indian pediatrician known for pioneering the use of oral rehydration therapy to treat diarrhoeal diseases. His work has been cited by Lancet as “the most important medical discovery of the 20th century.’’ Mahalanabis began researching oral rehydration therapy in 1966 as a research investigator for the Johns Hopkins University International Center for Medical Research and Training in Calcutta, India. His low cost innovative approach saves millions of lives every year and ecancer foundation wants to celebrate the spirit of research by naming the prize after Dr Mahalanabis who worked most of his professional life in Kolkata and ICDDRB, Bangladesh other than his appointments in World Health Organisation in Geneva. 


The ecancer Psycho-Oncology Conference 2024  invites original research presentations from junior clinicians/researchers for consideration for the "Dilip Mahalanabis Poster Prize 2024". Selected electronic posters will be displayed on the day of the conference at Tata Medical Center Kolkata on 7th Sept 2024.

We welcome the submission of original research/audit for the poster  presentation session in
the field of psycho-oncology, health psychology, or consultation liaison psychiatry.

There will be a jury who will choose the best two presentations for 1st prize (Rs 5000) and 2nd prize (Rs 3000).  The selected candidates will be communicated the format of the presentation. 


The last date of submission of abstract for the poster presentation will be 20th August 2024. The abstracts are to be submitted online via this link. 


 Abstract Submission Guidelines:


1.     All submission is to be done online (click here).
2.     Use a word count of 250 words or less (excluding title, keywords, and references) 
3.     Papers may have multiple authors, and the presenting author must register for and attend the conference 
4.     The submitting author should input all author details and submit the abstract. 
5.     All abstracts must be submitted in English
6.     Abstracts should have the following headings: Background, Methods, Results and Discussion
7.     Last date of abstract submission: 20th August 2024. 
8.     Corresponding authors of accepted abstracts will be notified over email before  25th August 2024. 


Some of the abstracts will be selected for eposter presentation to be held on 7th Sept 2023. Two of the best posters will be awarded Dilip Mahalanabis Poster Award (1st and 2nd Prize). The presenters will be requested to send their eposter presentations by 2nd Sept 2024. The power point format will be communicated to the selected presentations. For poster presentations there will not be any verbal presentation or question answer sessions.
